Ja Rule agrees to two years in prison for gun charge
Another rapper is headed to the clink, as Ja Rule agreed Monday to a two-year sentence for gun charges. It’s almost like owning a handgun is frowned upon in New York.
The 34-year-old avoided a possible 15-year sentence by pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a violent felony, the AP reports. Police said they found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun in a rear door of his $250,000-plus Maybach after it was stopped for speeding the same night Lil Wayne was arrested for the same charge (he got a year in prison and served eight months).
"This isn’t a good day," Ja Rule said while leaving the courtroom. A master of understatement, he’s due back Feb. 9 for a sentencing date.
