James Franco, Anne Hathaway will host the Oscars
As if anyone really cares about the Oscars anymore, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced Monday that James Franco and Anne Hathaway will be hosting the next awards ceremony. Apparently they figured Jon Stewart has gotten a little overexposed.
"James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons — fresh, exciting and multi-talented," telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer told Deadline.com in a statement. "We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27. We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that."
The site notes that part of the reason these two folks were picked was because they've both successfully hosted Saturday Night Live, meaning Taylor Swift, Al Gore and Tom Brady all had a shot, too. Funny, you'd think they'd be more impressed with Anne's stage experience or John getting rave reviews for a movie wherein he cuts off his own arm. And what, no mention of Betty White?
