James Franco appears on set of 'Spring Breakers'
Oscar nominee James Franco spent Tuesday at Gulfport city jail, but not for any scandalous offense. The actor was filming scenes for Spring Breakers, the collegiate crime comedy directed by Harmony Korine and co-starring Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson. You may have heard of it.
Franco plays a drug dealer nicknamed "Alien," who bails the women out of jail after being arrested for robbing a restaurant. Franco looks the part, with tightly braided hair, tropical shirt and a fake dollar sign tattoo on his neck, matching the gaudy orange-and-chrome wheel covers on his character’s convertible sports car, parked behind a security wall at the jail. No wonder so few people have noticed him; he'd blend right in, looking like that.
In the photo, Korine shares a laugh with Franco between takes. Spring Breakers filmed around Pinellas County throughout March, and principal photography is expected to be complete in early April. The movie is slated for release in 2013, which gives you a year to plan your movie release party.
