Jamie Spears fights for Britney in court drama
Someone connected to Britney Spears testifying in court is about as common as someone connected to baseball being in a back alley buying steroids, so we haven't been paying too much attention to dad Jamie Spears testifying to extend restraining orders against a few sour influences. But it's been quite a fight, it sounds like.
The L.A. Times says that Jamie has been trying his best to keep former manager/enabler/brainwasher Osama "Sam" Lutfi and former paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib away from Brit, telling Judge Aviva Bobb that as ruinous as they were for his daughter, the singer was still trying to contact them. He cited her phone records to prove she had been trying to contact the pair, although there's no concrete proof they chatted, and says he was "100 percent" sure Lutfi was sending text messages as someone claiming to have damning info against Brit.
"It felt like somebody was maybe trying to extort my daughter," he said, calling Lutfi a "predator" who ruined his little girl. That's why he's still seeking restraining orders against Lutfi, Ghalib and that lawyer who claims Brit hired him over the phone, Jon Eardley.
Bobb agreed Wednesday to extend the orders to April 1, when the case was continued so the judge could hear more testimony, the AP reports.
For his part, Ghalib was charged Tuesday with felony assault for allegedly using his Benz to run over the process server who gave him notice of the temporary restraining order on Feb. 11. What makes you think he's a bad influence, Jamie? (Ghalib turned himself in on Wednesday and was booked and released.)
Lutfi, on the other hand, is still suing Jamie and mom Lynne for defamation, breach of contract and other charges, which is quite the headache: "He causes disbelief in her mind," Jamie testified, saying family members "just want the man to go away."
