Javier Bardem may be next James Bond villain
If MGM has its way, Javier Bardem may be playing the next Bond villain opposite Daniel Craig in the recently greenlighted 23rd film. Wow, getting nominated for an Oscar really does get you the job offers.
Deadline.com says producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli were behind the offer, which they made the same week Bardem got a best actor nom for Biutiful and was offered the role of Roland Deschain in Ron Howard's upcoming trilogy based on Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. Don't forget Penelope Cruz just had his son, too. That's starting 2011 off quickly, ain't it?
We should note that there's no official word that Bardem was offered the villain role, but come on -- the big-name actor always gets the bad-guy spot. It didn't necessarily hurt the careers of folks like Donald Pleasance, Louis Jourdan or Christopher Walken, although we haven't seen Famke Janssen or Sophie Marceau in quite awhile.
