Jean-Claude Van Damme had an affair with Kylie Minogue
If you can even remember Jean-Claude Van Damme's awful 1994 video game adaptation Street Fighter, you'll remember nothing good came of it. But at least he and Kylie Minogue had an affair. That's right, it's time for today's episode of It Came From The '90s.
During an interview with the U.K.'s Guardian about his new role in The Expendables 2, Van Damme confirmed long-held rumors (which he partially fueled himself, of course): "I tell you what, you should ask her," he said at first. "She'll have a better memory. I'm 51 years old, do you know how much I was punched in the face on The Expendables? No, no. No. And let's just say it happened, so what? Who wants to know?"
But then the details of the Muscles from Brussels and his Aussie co-star poured forth. "Sometimes you let go of stuff ... I don't know, maybe," he told the paper. "Yes. Okay. Yes, yes, yes. It happened. I was in Thailand, we had an affair. Sweet kiss, beautiful lovemaking. It would be abnormal not to have had an affair, she's so beautiful and she was there in front of me every day with a beautiful smile, simpatico, so charming, she wasn't acting like a big star. I knew Thailand very well, so I showed her my Thailand. She's a great lady." His Thailand, huh? So that's what he calls it.
That's really scandalous if you recall he had divorced third wife Gladys Portugues in 1992 -- they later remarried -- and had been hooking up with Darcy LaPier before marrying her in February 1994, the New York Daily News points out, long before "hooking up" was even a common expression. But that's what you get from a guy who had a cocaine habit and was married five times.
