Jennifer Hudson credits fiance David Otunga with saving her life
Sometimes-local girl Jennifer Hudson opens up to Ebony magazine about the 2008 murders of her mother, brother and nephew by crediting her fiance, David Otunga with saving her life. If ever there were an argument to spend more time in Tampa ...
"He wanted me to come out to Florida with him instead of going to Chicago. I flew out to see him; that's why I'm still here," Hudson told the mag. "That's one of the things that saved my life. Because I could have been home with my mum then." Admitting that fact seemed to catch even Hudson by surprise: "I've never said that before, and I can't believe I just said that now, but I didn't know."
Hudson's mom, Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason and Jennifer's older sister Julia's son Julian King were found shot to death in their home on Chicago's South Side in Oct. 2008. Julia's ex-husband, William Balfour was arrested and charged with the killings.
