Jennifer Lopez may be getting $12 million to join 'American Idol'
If, for some strange reason, you're at all interested in even more speculation about Jennifer Lopez joining American Idol, then do we have the item for you. Deadline.com is saying she's signed a deal for $12 million, which will be announced in a couple weeks. Everyone just calm down -- we know you're excited, but you're spooking the cattle with your shouting.
The website says J.Lo had been demanding $15 million and a sweetheart deal for a movie and other TV projects on Fox from Idol producers, but they weren't biting, even with rumors that Simon Cowell had already asked her to be on the American version of The X Factor: "In the end, she didn't turn up her nose up at $12 million," a source told the site." I would have been very surprised if she had walked away. She needs the money. She lives very very well. It comes at a cost."
But don't believe all the rumors she was making divatastic demands; apparently it was all part of the bargaining process, although there are still whispers she didn't like Steven Tyler getting picked for the panel. The announcement is being delayed, Deadline says, because she's got a new single coming out in September. A single no one cares about while joining a show no one will watch anymore? It sound like pitch-perfect marketing to us!
