Jennifer Lopez says 'American Idol' hopefuls shouldn't sing her songs

There's a new sheriff in town at American Idol: Jennifer Lopez. And she wants to make sure y'all know it by issuing the edict none of her songs are to be attempted. We can't imagine Paul Abdul ever saying that.

"It was cute, super entertaining and flattering, but no," Lopez told People about hopefuls failing auditions by singing one of her songs. But she's not entirely hard-hearted about the contestants. "They know we're not out to cut them down or make a joke of them. We're trying to mentor them to the next step. ... We get a lot of elation when we put them through and devastation, almost, when they're not. But it's been a ball."

Wait, that doesn't sound like American Idol at all. What's the point of even airing auditions if you're not going to poke fun at the folks who obviously should never sing a note?
