Jennifer Lopez used a body double in her Fiat 500 commercial
You know those new videos of Jennifer Lopez cruising around the Bronx in a Fiat 500 yapping about how she loves her childhood home and whatnot? Well, you can now ignore all of them, because Jenny from the block used a body double while she stayed safe and sound in L.A. because she didn't want to go back to New York. And she wonders why people call her a diva.
"This is my world. This place inspires me to be tougher, to stay sharper, to think faster. They may be just streets to you, but to me, they're a playground," J.Lo says in the commercial, which aired during last Sunday's American Music Awards and is the centerpiece of the car's ad campaign. The Smoking Gun, meanwhile, found out director Max Malkin shot the street scenes in the Bronx and Manhattan, sure enough, but Lopez shot her scenes in a studio in Tinseltown so they could be cut together. Watch the video above; It all seems so obvious once you know about it.
While we're less than shocked to learn commercials lie to us, it does seem a bit odd the commercial is about how much J.Lo loves her home borough, yet refused to actually go there for the shoot. Still, it's no worse than those Gillette commercials in which Roger Federer, Tiger Woods and Thierry Henry were all spliced together from different shoots to make it look like they were hanging out together. There probably wasn't enough room in the Fiat for J.Lo's ... ego.
