Jeremy Renner may star in 'The Bourne Legacy'
The Hollywood rumor mill is rife with the news that its latest Jason Bourne movie, The Bourne Legacy, will indeed be made, but it won't feature Matt Damon. Now wait, Juice*heads, before you get angry, realize this is more of a spinoff than a reboot or sequel. The question remains, who will get top billing?
LatinoReview.com says that despite screenwriter wanting Sucker Punch's Oscar Isaac to play his lead, Universal didn't like that, so The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner is getting the nod. This will be after he plays Hawkman in The Avengers, of course.
The next installment in the Bourne series is only taking the name from Robert Ludlum's book, but is telling a completely different story, which is nothing new to the Damon trilogy. Gilroy has been adamant that Matt isn't being replaced, but that this will be a standalone side story. If only Paul Greengrass would return to make another Damon-centric tale, we'd be more inclined to believe that.
