Jeremy Renner may take over 'Mission: Impossible' from Tom Cruise
Tired of seeing Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible movies? We've got good news and bad news: The bad news is, Cruise is still shooting Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol. The good news is, costar Jeremy Renner says he may the one soon getting top billing in the franchise.
"It's a franchise to potentially take over," Renner told MTV News. "I can't predict the future and what they want, but that's certainly the idea."
We have no idea if that means he's taking over in this movie or a future installment, but Ethan Hunt's days seem numbered either way.
"I can't really go into the details of the script, because that's still evolving," Renner said. "It's Tom's baby. He's the engine behind the thing. What happens after that, we'll see."
Of course, if this real-life storyline is anything like the first movie, the resolution will be revealed in the first 20 minutes, then we'll have to sit through two hours of explosions and bad acting, only to have a mouth-breathing audience whine that it was too complicated for their simple little brains. Good luck, Jeremy!
