Jersey Shore's Snooki injures two Italian police officers in car crash

rsz_tbd-snooki060111.jpgJersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi hadn't been in Italy more than three weeks shooting the latest season of that disaster when she did just the kind of thing you'd expect her to do: She crashed her car into a cop car, injuring the two officers inside. Good thing MTV got it all on tape!

The U.K.'s Daily Mail says the 23-year-old was driving a car being escorted through Florence by two Italian police officers when she rear-ended them and was forced into a concrete traffic barrier. A male and a female officer were taken to a hospital on a stretcher for injuries from whiplash, minor cuts and bruising from their seat belts.

It seems neither Snooks nor co-star Deena Cortese, who was also in the car, were hurt, but Polizzi didn't have any documentation on her and was taken to the police station (although not officially arrested, the paper notes). Because, you know, why would she have her papers with her while driving in a foreign country?

"It was nothing serious and (the officers) have been released but they will not be back at work for a week," Florence PD spokesman Mario Rondinelli said. "The Italian law states that if a person is injured in an accident then the other person deemed to have caused the accident loses their license."

But losing her license may be the least of Polizzi's problems now: "It's unlikely that there will be a criminal case as it was a very minor accident but the two colleagues involved could decide on a civil case, which is their right."

In all likelihood, MTV probably has some kind of international legal defense fund set up just for a case like this, since they're the ones encouraging this kind of behavior. It's just good to know there are wonderful cultural ambassadors like Snooki out there making America look good.
