Jessica Alba tells Bill O'Reilly: No, really, Sweden is a neutral country
Jessica Alba has been going to war with Fox News' Bill O'Reilly as of late, telling a producer for The O'Reilly Factor around inauguration time that she had nothing to say to Bill because "he's kind of an a-hole."
The part that Bill teed off on, however, was that a couple of days later Alba asked a reporter to comment on what Barack Obama's greatest characteristic was, which the journalist refused to do. Alba pleaded with the guy to "be neutral" and "be Sweden about it." Pomposity reigned, and O'Reilly was quick to insist she's a "pinhead" and obviously meant Switzerland, "the land of neutrality."
Not so fast there, Mr. Know-It-All, she says:
"I find it depressing that in the midst of perhaps the most salient time in our country's history, individuals are taking it upon themselves to encourage negativity and stupidity," Alba wrote on her MySpace blog. "Last week, Mr. Bill O'Reilly and some really classy sites (i.e. TMZ) insinuated I was dumb by claiming Sweden was a neutral country. I appreciate the fact that he is a news anchor and that gossip sites are inundated with intelligent reporting, but seriously people ... it's so sad to me that you think the only neutral country during WWII was Switzerland."
We'd like to think Jess actually knew that and didn't just slip up and get lucky on Wikipedia later, so we laugh heartily at O'Reilly's unnecessary mockery (although the Swedes were complicit with some Nazi wartime efforts -- though that's splitting hairs). Besides, mockery is our job. And for the record, our favorite Obama characteristic is obviously the pecs and mad basketball skills.
