Jessica Simpson to star in autobiographical NBC sitcom
So what if Jessica Simpson narrowly missed torpedoing her Weight Watchers deal by getting pregnant again? So what if she still isn't married to her washed up NFL boyfriend Eric Johnson? So what if she heads a billion-dollar fashion empire, is getting ready for her second kid and has almost 6 million Twitter followers? Say, she'd make a perfect TV star! No, a real one.
The Hollywood Reporter says Jess will in the near future start working on a true scripted sitcom for NBC based on her life. That's a nice switch from her ill-fated reality show ventures in the past. Unfortunately, it will be written by Nick Bakay, who penned Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Zookeeper, so we can't get too jazzed by all this.
"I am so excited to work with Ben and NBC again, this time on a scripted comedy," Jess said. "I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life, so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing."
That's fine, because we know that show will be a hit with the Kmart crowd. They'll have to write her pregnancy into the show immediately, though.
