Joaquin Phoenix may be coming back in Poe movie
Whether or not you believed Joaquin Phoenix's retirement from acting to be a rap star was real or not, word is he's coming back to the silver screen -- to play disturbed artistic genius Edgar Allen Poe, no less. That's the most appropriate thing we've heard since Jessica Simpson admitted she liked fried food.
Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire sound engineer Resul Pookutty spilled the beans on this one, Starpulse reports. There's no word on specifics, but Pookutty swears it's going to happen.
"I couldn't be happier because I am doing a period film. It is a very special challenge because I have to recreate the sound textures of New York in 1854," he told the Mumbai Mirror. "It's an adaptation of The Beautiful Cigar Girl by Daniel Stashower and based on an eerie real-life experience of author Edgar Allan Poe which happened just months before his death. Joaquin plays Edgar Allen Poe."
If ever there's an actor we thought could portray a talented man who ended up dead in a gutter in Baltimore, it's Joaquin. We'll keep an ear to the ground to see if this turns up true.
