John Stamos says he was 'heartbroken' when he met alleged extortionist
John Stamos took the stand in his extortion trial Tuesday, telling the court that he was "heartbroken" over his failed marriage to Rebecca Romijn when he met Allison Coss in 2004 at Pleasure Island in Orlando, the AP reports. That explains why it looks he may have had a brief fling with the girl when she was only 17 years old.
That's a supposition, however, as Stamos denies allegations he had a romantic fling with Coss, who is accused along with Scott Sippola of demanding $680,000 from the 46-year-old actor. Stamos described his time with Coss as "just hanging out" and "socializing," calling their later e-mail exchanges as "flirty" and "friendly," not dirty.
"I was very heartbroken at the time," he said of why friends took him to the club, where all patrons are supposed to be 18 or older. Coss had apparently told him she was on spring break from college. Has John never heard of fake IDs? "It was all very sweet," Stamos said of their relationship. "I considered her a friend."
According to Coss, Stamos offered to perform oral sex on her in his hotel room, a second-degree felony in Florida, and Coss took photos of him near a table full of drugs. When two people identified as J Taylor and Brian L (presumably Coss and Sippola) started e-mailing Stamos demanding money, lest the photos be released, Stamos balked and went to the feds. We've got to believe his account a little bit. Why else would he admit getting so close to a minor?
