John Travolta allegedly had 6-year affair with male pilot
Things have quieted down on the John Travolta front lately, but now the National Enquirer is fanning the flames a bit with a new report claiming the Ocala resident carried on a six-year affair with his personal male pilot in the 1980s. Begin formulating your Mile High Club jokes now.
The Enquirer says Travolta and Doug Gotterba were an item back then, and it was common knowledge among employees that John was gay. "Of course I knew he was gay," former secretary Joan Edwards told the rag. "It never bothered me." She says that she knew Gotterba while working for Travolta between 1978 and 1994. This happened before John married Kelly Preston in 1991, then.
"That's how I met Doug. We both worked for John at the same time," Edwards said. "Doug is a wonderful guy and we are still good friends. He told me that John was gay and they had a sexual relationship." Goterba wouldn't confirm anything more than his former employment with Travolta, but that didn't stop Doug's boyfriend after Travolta from blabbing.
"Doug told me right at the beginning of our relationship that he'd had a homosexual relationship with John Travolta in the 1980s," Robert Britz said. "Doug said John was constantly grabbing at his genital area, but he put up with John's sexual advances because working for him was 'lucrative.'"
Britz also said he saw a home video Gotterba took of Travolta shirtless in a hotel room, which proves nothing by itself, and noted why the pair broke it off.
"After a few years, Doug grew apart from John sexually, and John's advances eventually started to repulse him," Britz said, saying Gotterba was turned off by John's body hair and weight gain between roles. "The relationship ended shortly thereafter." Who cares if the relationship part is true; that makes Doug seem pretty superficial, if nothing else.
