Johnny Depp tops Forbes list of richest actors

It's time once again to feel bad about your personal earning power, as Johnny Depp is topping Forbes' list of highest paid actors with a cool $75 million in earnings. Looks like he learned a thing or two playing a pirate all those years.

Depp's big paydays came from his roles as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Woderland and an upfront payment for The Tourist, in which he costars with Angelina Jolie, who made a pretty penny there, too. Coming in second was Ben Stiller and his $53 million. He had a couple production credits and also got an upfront for Little Fockers, the latest in his one-joke Meet the Parents movies.

Tom Hanks brought in $45 million between June 2009 and 2010, mostly from Angels & Demons. Adam Sandler copped to $40 million after producing Kevin James vehicles Paul Blart: Mall Cop (perhaps the unfunniest hit comedy ever made) and Zookeeper, which is coming out later. Rounding out the top five was Leonardo DiCaprio, whose $28 million is owed to audience-friendly mindbender-lites Shutter Island and Inception.

The rest of the top 10 goes Daniel Radcliffe, $25 million; Robert Downey Jr., $22 million; Tom Cruise, $22 million; Brad Pitt, $20 million; and George Clooney, $19 million. Normally a hateful invective would be placed here, but we're too busy begging for change to give it to the Tampa Bay Rays so they'll quit whining about poor attendance in a market with the state's highest unemployment rate.
