Jon Favreau trades 'Iron Man 3' for 'Magic Kingdom'
Jon Favreau has announced he will not be directing the next Iron Man sequel, choosing instead to focus on Magic Kingdom, a flick based on yet another Disneyland ride. Hey, it worked for Pirates of the Caribbean's Gore Verbinksi didn't it?
"Between the theme parks and the movies, the Disney iconography was probably the first set of archetypes that I was exposed to," Favreau told the L.A. Times. "Walt was able to expose me as a child to the full array of emotions, including fear and sorrow. Those movies and attractions haunted my dreams and made a deep impression on me as a child."
Favreau, 44, is joining a couple other directors doing Disney projects; David Fincher will remake 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Guillermo del Toro has agreed to make a Haunted Mansion movie. We can't wait until the Epcot-themed movie based on the geode's Spaceship Earth ride.
