Jonathan Rhys Meyers hospitalized after possible suicide attempt
Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers — you know him as the soccer coach in Bend It Like Beckham or maybe as King Henry VIII in cable’s The Tudors — was hospitalized in London Tuesday night after reportedly attempting to commit suicide, according to media reports. U.K.’s Sun says paramedics found the 33-year-old “slumped on the floor” … but he refused treatment for 30 minutes. Police eventually arrived and talked the actor into going to the hospital. TMZ says Meyers had overdosed on pills. Officials in London would only confirm that officers were dispatched; they’re not talking about any suicide reports. Meyers, who has reportedly been in and out of rehab five times, was released from the hospital the next day.
