Judd Apatow wants to make a Pee-Wee Herman movie

If there is one movie in all the Verse that doesn't need to be remade, it's Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Too bad it sounds like that's what Judd Apatow has planned these days.

It's not a remake, per se, but Variety says Judd wants Paul Reubens to reprise his role in a road movie focusing on "a gigantic adventure." Let us guess: To find his missing bicycle, right?

"Let's face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman," Apatow told Variety. "I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens -- who is an extraordinary and ground-breaking actor and writer. It's so great to watch him return with such relevance."

As far as Pee-Wee himself is concerned, the timing is great: "There is no one like Judd in our business -- he loves comedy with emotion and heart, and he sees what we do as art," Reubens said. "I can't believe I'm getting this opportunity to be working with him." Or to be working, period.
