Judge dismisses Sam Lutfi's case against Britney Spears
We haven't really been following former Britney Spears manager Sam Lutfi's lawsuit against the singer and her family, mostly because we thought the accusations were groundless, way off base and a waste of the court's time. Turns out the judge thought so, too, because she threw the case out on Thursday.
"I really thought long and hard, so the motions are granted...as to all the defendants and all the causes of action," L.A. Superior Court Judge Suzanne Brugera said, according to E!. "That is the right thing to do, so I am going to do it." Mom and dad Lynne and Jamie filed a motion on Wednesday saying Lutfi was never hurt in any alleged battery, and he had no legal grounds for demanding any back salary. Kind of makes you wonder why a judge didn't just toss it all in the first place. Lutfi plans to appeal.
Another part of the suit was alleged libel by Lynne in her 2008 memoir, Through the Storm, in which she said Lutfi drugged her daughter, hid her dog, took away her phone and ran her life, but Lynne claimed an absence of malice, so what's the big deal? This is showbiz, and people are gonna say stuff about you. Believe The Juice*; we know a lot about this.
