Julianne Moore to play Sarah Palin in 'Game Change'
Despite the obvious answer that this role should have gone to Tina Fey, HBO has announced that Julianne Moore will play Sarah Palin in an upcoming original movie. Why not? Palin is neither freckled nor a redhead, so it's an obvious choice.
Game Change is based on the bestselling book by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, which followed Sen. John McCain's selection of Palin as his running mate in the 2008 presidential campaign, the L.A. Times reports. It will be directed by Jay Roach with a screenplay by Danny Strong, the pair behind the Emmy-winning 2008 HBO picture Recount.
The Times notes Moore was once picked to play Hillary Clinton in the HBO film The Special Relationship, but that role eventually went to Hope Davis. We'll have to wait and see how long this casting lasts, since Palin may be nonplussed at the idea of being played by one of those 50-year-old Hollywood types.
