Kanye West not dead, despite what Twitter says
If you eschew the frantic pace of today's modern media environment and turn to The Juice* for the truth about whether Kanye West is dead or alive, we're terribly sorry. But we still can tell you that contrary to tweeted reports early Wednesday, he is among the breathing.
MTV says that the rumor West had died in an L.A. car crash was possibly attributable to image board 4chan.org. A post there may have contributed to chain emails and comment boards, leading to the trending topic "RIP Kanye West" hitting Twitter, when the fun really started.
According to the network, the report said "a bizarre car crash in Los Angeles involving two luxury cars early this morning (left) rapper Kanye West dead, a second injured, a third arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and a fourth person was detained by police. A Los Angeles Police Department officer witnessed the wreck and saw a red Ferrari and a white Porsche 'spinning out of control' on Jamboree Road between Bison Avenue and East Bluff Drive."
Some hackers apparently pushed up the topic to the top of the Twitterverse from the wee hours and throughout the day, despite Kanye's girlfriend Amber Rose tweeting: "This RIPKanyeWest topic is not funny and its NOT TRUE! ... Its in extreme poor taste to have that as a trendy topic. It's totally disrespectful to make up a story like this where all human ... and we all make mistakes and to say someone died cuz of a mistake is ridiculous. U wouldn't want someone to say that about u."
She then spent the rest of the day trying to put #LongLiveYeezy on the board. So much for not listening to what you read on Twitter.
