Kate Beckinsale offered role in 'Total Recall' remake
Now it's time for one of our least-favorite duties: Casting news about unnecessary remakes. Of course, that would be all remakes, wouldn't it? Today's roster calls for Kate Beckinsale to star in the remake of 1990's Total Recall. Will no one stop the madness?
Deadline.com says Beckinsale has been offered the role of Sharon Stone's Lori, the faux wife assigned to be "married" to Arnold Schwarzenegger's Douglas Quaid to keep an eye on him (Colin Ferrell is supposed to play Arnie's role, by the way). That may have something to do with Beckinsale being married to Len Wiseman, the film's director and helmer of the Underworld flicks. Just putting that out there.
Beckinsale reportedly hasn't officially responded yet, since she's plenty busy. She just finished Contraband with Mark Wahlberg and will be starring in both The Trials of Kate McCullough and Underworld 4: New Dawn, which is shooting right now, Deadline says. Meanwhile, we'll just have to wonder if Eva Mendes or Rosario Dawson take over Rachel Ticotin's Melinda. More importantly, who's gonna play Thumbelina?
