Katie Holmes puts Suri Cruise in Catholic school, forbids designer clothes
In case you were wondering if Katie Holmes really didn't want Suri attending a Scientology school, you now have your answer: The 6-year-old has been enrolled at Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan. Because Katie didn't want a huge religion that takes money from its members and uses a cryptic vocabulary to brainwash her kid.
E! says the school, which charges a tuition of $38,000 per year, will require Suri to attend Mass every Thursday. The schools almuni includes Lady Gaga, Jordana Brewster, Nicky Hilton and Caroline Kennedy. Also, it has a strict dress code that mandates littel Suri wear a uniform. That won't sit well with Hollywood's best-dressed kid. Dad Tom Cruise won't be able to help, either. even after Wednesday's paparazzi chase through New York while visiting his kid, who clung to him for dear life the whole time.
Reveal magazine says the uniform's no big deal, though, because mom has demanded all the glam swag stop being sent to her baby: "Katie has been returning unsolicited gifts and loans from designers for Suri since she arrived in New York, which is to be her home base now, far away from Tom," a source said.
"She's issued instructions to remove Suri from all freebie lists. She's also put the word out in L.A. to stop any mini-me diva products being sent her way. All that inappropriate dress up and make-up was down to Tom and Katie's key word now when it comes to Suri is 'normal'. Tom loved to spoil Suri and indulge her, but Katie has other ideas."
We can't say we really blame Katie for all of this, because she's trying to undo a lifetime of constant paparazzi attention and Hollywood upbringing. If only she'd thought of this six years ago.
