Kelly Clarkson takes rage out on manager, cancels tour

Tbdkelly061507 No one seems to know the specifics of Kelly Clarkson’s personal war with Sony BMG’s Clive Davis, but one casualty has been counted: her manager, Jeff Kwatinetz.

The New York Post reports it was Kwatinetz who told Clarkson it would be in her best interest to eschew Davis’ help and write all her own songs for her third album, and so it was Kwatinetz who got the boot from Kelly.

“Kwatinetz, a co-producer of Kelly’s upcoming album, led her down the road of recording without the benefit of Clive Davis’ magic and collaboration with hit-making songwriters,” a source told the paper. “Clive was trying to stop her from jumping off a cliff.”

If the album’s as bad as it sounds like it’s going to be, we’ll be the ones jumping off cliffs. In fact, things are going so poorly for the American Idol, her summer tour’s been canceled.

“Ticket sales have not been what we anticipated and we came to the realization that we had bit off more than we could chew,” LiveNation CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement.

If you bought tickets, refunds are at point of purchase, but Kelly promises to give you first crack when (and if) her tour starts.
