Kelsey Grammer's 'Boss' canceled, may get 2-hour movie
Golden Globe or not, Kelsey Grammer's doomed Chicago mayor in the Starz series Boss really is doomed, because the show won't be coming back for a third season. That is potentially really bad news for all 14 people who watched it. At least Starz still has Spartacus -- oh wait, that series has decided to quit after next season.
"After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with (a third season of) Boss," Starz said in a statement Tuesday. “We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers, and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, (creator) Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV."
The show averaged 937,000 viewers over its premiere weekend, the site says, and 2.4 million over all platforms, but when that's worse than your first season and it's basic cable, that's bad news. The good news is that Lionsgate TV, which owns the show, may make a two-hour movie to wrap up the storyline. We're guessing Tom Kane doesn't recover, but that's just wild speculation.
