Kiefer Sutherland released from California jail
Giving us hope that Jack Bauer may one day return to the airwaves, Kiefer Sutherland made a CTU-like cloak-and-dagger exit from the Glendale City Jail after finishing his 48-day sentence for a drunken-driving charge. Where does the time go?
PageSix.com says the 41-year-old actor was driven away from a back entrance by his publicist at 12:05 a.m. Left Coast time Monday, while even all of us here in Florida were shivering in our beds. “(Kiefer) looked like he was glad to be out,” Officer John Balian told People. “... He was very humble, never complained. He didn’t give us any problems at all.” Of course not, not after spending all that time in a Chinese prison on 24.
Kiefer had to serve the full 48 days for his fourth (!) DUI in exchange for being able to stay in Glendale and not head to county. The actor must also serve five years probation and complete an 18-month alcohol education program and attend weekly therapy sessions for six months, the AP says.
But there were a couple things that made his stay unpleasant: “(He) jokingly told jail staff that he won’t be doing any laundry anytime soon, as he was relegated to endless hours of fluff and fold,” a source told PageSix.com. He was also looking forwatd “to some real food, and he never wants to see another bologna sandwich ever again.”
