'Kitchen Nightmares' suicide may have had affair with pastry chef

It seems money may not have been the root of Kitchen Nightmares restaurateur Joseph Cerniglia, who was found dead in the Hudson River on Friday after jumping to his death from the George Washington Bridge. No, the New York Post implies it was because his marriage was over and he was dating his pastry chef. It's as good a theory as any, right?

The Post says Cerniglia had a thing going with his Campania cohort Jessica Marotta, and had separated from his wife Melissa. Gary Pollina, the owner of a nearby jewelry store, said that Cerniglia's marriage had been in trouble for some time.

They had been separated "for a long time ... I don't think they were doing so well even during Kitchen Nightmare (sic)," Pollina said. "I assumed (Cerniglia and Marotta were romantically involved) because of ... the way they interacted with each other. They were very close, and when the rest of the people went home, they would stay behind alone to clean up."

Of course, ol' Gary can't even get the name of the show right, so how trustworthy a source is he? Then again, if use that logic, you'd note that yesterday we said previous Gordon Ramsay berating victim Rachel Brown, who killed herself a couple years back, was on Kitchen Nightmares when she was actually on Hell's Kitchen. The moral? Don't believe everything other people tell you.
