Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus meet Queen Elizabeth II
That Lady Gaga sure is going places, as the mistress of excess performed for Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Variety Show on Monday night, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reports. Miley Cyrus was there, too, but she didn't have the gall to wear a Elizabethan gown made out of red latex (complete with 20-foot train and a ruff) and play a giant piano while suspended from a swing.
While the British meeting is oohing and ahhing over the idea that the show was in the city of Blackpool for the first time in 54 years, Tampa Bay folks would be more interested to hear that Gaga played Speechless on a 30-foot piano that resembled the elephants from the Salvador Dali painting The Temptation of St. Anthony. The paper says Gaga later casually popped into a nearby pub for a pint and some takeout fish and chips.
Contrast that pandering to the locals to Miley, who wore hotpants on stage and then changed into an orange dress with an eye-popping neckline. The Daily Mail didn't even bother to say what Miley sang at the show, which featured performers from all sorts of disciplines. Leave it to the Yanks to bring a 17-year-old in itty bitty shorts, though.
