Lady Gaga says 'Judas' video is 'not a Biblical lesson'

Lady Gaga wants everyone to know that her new video for Judas, from her upcoming album Born This Way, isn't meant to offend Christians, or involve teachings of scripture. No, it just has bikers in leather with the apostles' names for colors and a leader who wears a crown of thorns, is all.

"I really don't view the video as a religious statement," Gaga told E!'s Giuliana Rancic ahead of the world premiere of the uncut, seven-minute version debuting Thursday night on the network (you can watch the 5 1/2-minute version that hit YouTube on Tuesday above). "I view it as social statement. I view it as a cultural statement. ... It's a metaphor. It's not meant to be a biblical lesson."

Still, it's easy to see why some devout religious types would get upset at references to the stations of the cross and lines like "Jesus is my virtue, and Judas is the demon I cling to." All she has to do is burn a few crosses, put it in a Pepsi commercial and we'll have Madonna's Like a Prayer all over again.
