Lakeland native Spencer Duhm on 'Survivor'
Florida continues to be represented in reality TV, as 19-year-old student Spencer Duhm of Lakeland has been announced as a contestant on the next season of Survivor, CBS says.
And what a contestant! The show (subtitled Tocantins — Brazilian Highlands) has recently dropped its age requirement from 21 to 18, so the young man, whose birthday is on Dec. 20, jumped at the chance, since he’s a self-described fanatic of the show.
The University of Florida student — majoring in telecommunications — is described as a gossip loving, openly gay athletic type who is willing to deal with his fear of heights, but won’t put up with one thing: “Snakes in general,” he says. “I just don’t do snakes.”
He may not have much choice, seeing as how CBS doesn’t just give away that $1 million. He might as well paint a target on his face and write “anacondas bite here.”
