Lenny Kravitz will play Marvin Gaye in new biopic
That turn as a fashion plate in The Hunger Games is really working out for Lenny Kravitz. The rocker has won the role of Marvin Gaye in a biopic about the singer. And it's the juicy part of Gaye's life, too, when he was hooked on cocaine and moved to Belgium before being shot dead by his father in 1984.
Deadline.com says Kravitz will start shooting the Julien Temple-directed film after the new year. The project already has rights to Gaye's music in place, so it looks like this project will actually happen, unlike scrapped projects by F. Gary Gray and Jesse L. Martin.
Kravitz will not only be in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but also has a role in Lee Daniels' The Butler. This will be his first lead acting role, however, so it'll be lots of fun hearing him sing potentially singing Sexual Healing -- although he may actually have to take the sunglasses off for a few minutes.
