Leslie Carter, sister of singers Nick and Aaron, dead at 25
Leslie Carter, the sister of singers Nick and Aaron, died Tuesday in upstate New York, the family announced. There was no indication of the cause. She was 25.
"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter," the family told Access Hollywood in a statement. "We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."
The aspiring singer married husband Mike Ashton in 2008, and gave birth to a baby girl, Alyssa Jane Ashton, on April 1, 2011. Her brother Nick, who is starting a Backstreet Boys reunion tour this spring, said he will be at the shows. "Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform," he told the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
Aaron, meanwhile, will be leaving his off-Broadway role in The Fantasticks for awhile: "His Fantasticks family loves him and offers him support and prayers during this difficult time," a spokesman for the show told E!.
Leslie had signed a deal with Dreamworks Records in 1991, but an album never materialized. Her single Like Wow! was on the 2001 Shrek soundtrack, but only reached 99 on the Billboard chart.
