Lil Wayne begins one year jail sentence
It only took four tries, but Lil Wayne was finally sentenced to a year in jail for gun charges. Now it will take five or six tries to actually get him booked into jail. Nah, we're kidding; Weezy's gone away.
TMZ said Dwayne Carter declined to make a statement after getting his sentence, shaking his head no and turning to bow to fans in the courtroom before being led away (his boy Birdman was there in the gallery). The judge agreed to place him in protective custody during his sentence to keep other prisoners from messing with him; the rapper also asked for medical attention for his dental problems. That's why you kids shouldn't buy those diamond-caked grills!
Lawyer Stacey Richman said Weezy's going to Riker's Island, and is facing his charge of attempted criminal possession of a .40-caliber pistol like a man: "He knew what he had to do, and he's doing it," she told the AP. We expect to see him in about eight months.
