Lindsay Lohan admits she was 'irresponsible'
Right after Lindsay Lohan found out she was supposed to go to jail for 90 days (which turned out to be just 13) and rehab for another 90 days (actually 22), she did the natural thing for any actress whose career is in a tailspin -- she gave an interview to Vanity Fair. Now the story is out, just like the actress herself.
"I want my career back. I want the respect that I had when I was doing great movies. And if that takes not going out to a club at night, then so be it. It's not fun anyway," she tells the latest issue of the mag, according to USA Today. "I don't care what anyone says. I know that I'm a damn good actress. ... And I know that in my past I was young and irresponsible -- but that's what growing up is. You learn from your mistakes."
She goes on to whine about people saying she's an alcoholic, noting that her alcohol-monitoring bracelet would have gone off if that were the case (note: it did go off once, but we don't have space to examine that right now), says her dad Michael is pretty much the worst person in the world and that she idolized her peers, which ruined her.
"I would look up to those girls ... the Britneys and whatever. And I would be like, I want to be like that," she says. We wonder if she blames her reported drug use on them; after all, she says she doesn't misuse prescriptions.
"I've never abused prescription drugs. I never have — never in my life. I have no desire to. That's not who I am," she says. "I've admitted to the things that I've done — to, you know, dabbling in certain things and trying things 'cause I was young and curious and thought it was like, okay, 'cause other people were doing it and other people put it in front of me. And I see what happened in my life because of it."
Being caught with cocaine time and again, well, that's a whole different saga. The mag hits the stands on Sept. 7, giving her plenty of time to violate probation.
