Lindsay Lohan arrested for assault, faces more charges
Lindsay Lohan's week went from bad to worse, with the actress being charged with at least four different crimes on the same day on two different coasts after allegedly hitting a woman at a nightclub early Thursday. As if the critics savaging her Lifetime movie Liz & Dick wasn't enough of an insult.
NBC New York says Lohan was at Club Avenue in Manhattan when she allegedly punched the victim in the face and was detained by New York's Finest. TMZ says the pair argued after sitting in separate booths near each other, with Lohan smacking her on the left side of her face for no apparent reason (the site speculates it was some kind of disagreement over Max George from The Wanted, who didn't want to deal with a drunk LiLo).
The New York Post, meanwhile, says Lohan and the woman, whom they identify as 28-year-old Tiffany Eve Mitchell, had bumped into each other when they stood up to watch a nearby fight. They then began fighting. You know, like in every cliched barfight ever. And of course, Mitchell is from West Palm Beach, because there's a Florida connection to everything that ever happens anywhere.
The 26-year-old was booked for third degree misdemeanor assault, given a ticket requiring a future court appearance and released around 8 a.m. Thursday, complete with a jacket over her head. Investigators are looking to review the club's security footage, the site says.
But that wasn't the end of her day: TMZ says a criminal complaint was filed first thing in the morning, West Coast time, as part of her car accident in Santa Monica last June, when she drove a Porsche into a semi. She was charged with lying to cops, obstructing a police officer and reckless driving, all of which carry potential jail time.
Considering she's been on probation for stealing that diamond necklace, her probation is sure to get pulled this time, likely when she's arraigned. That's expected to happen next week, TMZ notes. That's if this assault charge doesn't get her put in jail first.
