Lindsay Lohan doesn't take plea deal in theft case
Sorry to drag this out on you, friends and neighbors, but Lindsay Lohan isn't going to jail just yet. The actress elected to take her grand theft charge on the road to a trial after refusing to accept a plea deal that would have resulted in time behind bars. It wouldn't be LiLo if she wasn't wasting tax dollars, would it?
After Lohan showed up 35 minutes late and wearing a beige, latex minidress (who dresses this woman, Nicki Minaj?), Judge Keith Schwartz set an April 22 preliminary hearing date on the charges she stole a $2,500 necklace from a Ventura, Calif., jewelry shop. That case will be heard by Judge Stephanie Sautner, E! reports. Still a sticking point, though, is whether Lindsay violated probation from her DUI conviction, so that case will be heard concurrently. If Sautner finds her guilty on April 22 of violating probation, Lohan will sit in jail until her trial on the theft charge.
Lest you think she's actually in trouble, Schwartz told Lohan to come back on March 25 for yet one more chance to decide once and for all whether she will take the prosecution plea deal, which includes six months in jail. Thursday's proceedings were to set a hearing date for Lindsay to accept the offer on the table, but the sounds of six months just didn't appeal to her. She'll actually have to decide by March 23 so the hearing can be prepared, but we seriously doubt LiLo is going to go quietly. That means we'll se you again in April, folks.
