Lindsay Lohan rejects plea deal, will go to trial over theft charge
Aaaaaaaaand of course, the Lindsay Lohan legal drama continues: The actress (and we use that word lightly these days) has officially elected not to take a plea deal in her felony grand theft case. No, she'd rather waste California taxpayer dollars on a trial instead of on six months in jail. Ooh, maybe she'll get to do both!
LiLo had to decide to accept the prosecution offer of six months or else have her case assigned to Judge Stephanie Sautner, who has a reputation for being kinda tough, TMZ reports. Now Sautner will have to decide if Lohan violated probation for her DUI conviction if she's found guilty of stealing that $2,500 necklace from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store.
Lindsay is charging she was set up so the jewelry store could cash in on her name, but really, does it seem like a good idea for any jewelry store to just let someone with a reputation as bad as Lindsay's to simply walk out with a big-money bauble like that? Knowing the california judicial system, however, it's entirely possible Sautner won't find her guilty of either charge, and nothing will happen to her. That's what we're putting on money on in the office pool, anyway.
