Lindsay Lohan rushes to L.A. court, officially has a new lawyer
Turns out Lindsay Lohan was feeling well enough to go to court in L.A. Wednesday after all, which probably had nothing at all to do with everyone pointing out her excuse she had the flu didn't hold any water. The judge didn't seem too amused, either.
"I'm glad to see you're feeling better," Judge Stephanie Sautner told Lindsay, according to TMZ. The actress took a last-minute flight from New York to show up after her new lawyer Mark Heller, who sounds like a cartoon version of a wiseguy attorney, tried to tell the court she'd be a no-show for her hearing.
Sautner asked Lohan if she'd be okay with heller replacing longtime protector Shawn Chapman Holley, whom Lindsay recently fired (again), and the actress said she would cope. Heller, meanwhile, tried to joke around with Sautner about her time as a New York detective, but the judge wasn't buying his brand, the site said.
The judge also pointed out that even if she was found not guilty of lying to police about driving the Porsche in that summer car accident, her probation for stealing a necklace from a jewelry store could still technically be violated, TMZ said. That could very well land LiLo in the pokey. But we're not holding our breath.
Sautner set a hearing for March 1, buying Lindsay another full month of freedom. Well, a short month, anyway.
