Lindsay Lohan sent to jail, no chance to get out before Oct. 22
Just when you thought the court system was hopelessly broken and weighted in favor of the rich and famous, something happens that makes you think justice really is blind. Like Lindsay Lohan being thrown in jail for violating her DUI probation by failing two drug tests. Yes, it looks like the second chances are finally over.
Judge Elden Fox on Friday remanded Lohan to jail in advance of a court hearing next month, shocking her, her lawyer, and everyone who was sick and tired of the woefully unemployable actress getting away with breaking laws we'd all be locked away in a tower for flouting.
"Ms. Lohan cannot be released early because this isn't a jail sentence," L.A. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told People. "She's being held by court order until her court hearing on Oct. 22. She will be held in the same conditions as her last stay, in a keep-away unit." She'll stay in an all-female facility, but segregated for her safety. Because it's a court order, her status won't change unless Fox orders her out. He must have been sick of her shenanigans, too.
LiLo showed up at hearing Friday for her two drug test violations -- she tested positive once for cocaine and again for amphetamine, which turned out to be her Adderall. Fox denied her bail and sent her packing in handcuffs, meaning she has to stay in an 8-by-12-foot cell for 29 days without a chance to get out. We'll believe it when we see her come to court on Oct. 22.
Whitmore added that the 24-year-old is "very cooperative, very demure, very quiet. Once again she's doing everything that is asked of her. Last time she did very well and so far, so good this time.''A month is a long time, Steve even if you guys are on a first-name basis.
