Lorne Michaels says '30 Rock' will continue without Alec Baldwin
It's time for the TV Critics Association press tour in La-La Land, so while the networks are busy showing off all the junk TV they have planned for you in the fall, Lorne Michaels tells us something we actually want to know: That he plans for 30 Rock to keep going whether or not Alec Baldwin stays on the show. See, there's something to be said for bowing out gracefully.
"I can't imagine doing the show without Alec, but I couldn't imagine doing (Saturday Night Live) without Chevy (Chase)," Michaels told New York magazine. "And we're still on the air." He also said he thought Tina Fey was "completely committed to the show." Never mind her movies, books and second child on the way.
"This is just a great group overall," Michaels said. "It's got a lot of life and vitality and we all want to keep it going." Hmm. Did he even watch half the episodes last season? The whole Tracy Morgan thing is getting kind of tired. And if Jack Donaghy leaves NBC, we reckon we will, too.
