'Machete' producers sue to stop Robert Rodirguez's sequel
Producers of the Robert Rodriguez grindhouse homage Machete have sued to stop the release of a potential sequel. Some people just don't want Danny Trejo to be a success, you know?
Overnight Productions filed a complaint in court last week against Rodriguez's Quick Draw Productions to terminate an April 2012 agreement letting the director make Machete Kills, Deadline.com says. They also want $2 million in damages, because they say they weren't given the Texas tax credit information they were promised, and say the budget information isn't detailed enough to allow Overnight head Rick Schwartz to calculate (and therefore collect) his producer fee. Tragic.
So this is all about how some suit can get his beak wet. What else on this green Earth could stop a movie starring Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen as the president of the United States? It's liek a sheetcake made of awesome.
