Madonna doesn't use swastika for France concert after legal threat

In Madonna's latest cry for attention, she wanted to put a swastika over an image of a French politician during a stop in France on her European MDNA tour, but then backed down after the party threatened to sue her, The Guardian reports. The Material Girl planned to put the Nazi symbol over National Front party leader Marine Le Pen. But after the threats, she replaced the swastika with a giant question mark during a Tuesday performance of Nobody Knows Me in Nice.

"This is proof that our arguments were valid, National Front spokesman Gael Nofri said. "This is excellent news."

But somehow, Madonna got away with displaying the unaltered image during a concert in Paris a few weeks ago. Her animosity likely stems from that fact that Le Pen's father, former National Front leader Jean-Marie Le Pen, has been convicted of racial hatred and of discounting the Holocaust.

We wonder what Elton John has to say about this one. It's only a matter of time until he goes on some talk show to throw in his two cents on the matter. Any minute now, any minute....
