Madonna needs to be in the news again
The Malawian government simply can’t put the Madonna’s adoption of David Banda to rest. The Daily Mail says that Penstone Kilembe, the child welfare expert in charge of her case, has been banned by his superiors from traveling to London to review the 23-month-old’s progress, saying he had gotten too involved personally with the case.
“We have already contacted Madonna that someone else and not Kilembe will come to assess her, because we feel Mr. Kilembe personalized the whole issue when other people can go,” Kate Kainja, minister of Women and Child Development, told the Malawi News. Kainja accuses Kilembe of accepting travel money from the pop queen, compromising his neutrality.
She also claims the adoption process may end up dead because of it, sending David back to Africa. Web site 24Sizzler, meanwhile, says Madge’s rep denies the charges and says wire reports are incorrect.
Frankly, the whole adoption is fishy anyway, if for no other reason than there’s debate that a child from a small, rural village in Malawi could possibly be faring worse from living with the richest woman in the universe. But then, it is Madonna.
