Madonna says M.I.A. was acting like 'a teenager'
It's been about a week since M.I.A. flipped the bird at a TV camera during the Super Bowl hafltime, sending the NFL and NBC into spasms of fear over FCC fines. But what did Madonna think about it? Her Madgesty told Ryan Seacrest she thought it was pretty childish, bold words from someone who made her name wearing her underwear on the outside.
"I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it," she told Seacrest on his radio show Friday, according to TMZ. "I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager ... irrelevant thing to do ... there was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place."
Exactly. And while she told Carson Daly later that M.I.A. has since apologized, we're smart enough to know that as annoying as Madonna can be these days, she is one person you don't want to make angry. Nice knowing you, M.I.A. -- you'll probably never work stateside again.
