Maggie Q, Roslyn Sanchez tapped to colorize primetime
The networks have been listening to criticisms that most of their TV lineups are so lily-white you could go snowblind from watching them, so two new pilots are being headed up by Maggie Q and Roslyn Sanchez. Now if only their projects could be original.
Maggie Q will play the lead in the CW's Nikita, which is a follow up to the series that first started with Luc Besson's 1990 flick La Femme Nikita, the Hollywood Reporter says. Anne Parillaud starred in that one, with Bridget Fonda in the remake, Point of No Return and Peta Wilson in the USA series in the late '90s. And then Jennifer Garner in rip-off Alias.
Meanwhile, Sanchez will star in Cutthroat, which THR describes as a one-hour dramedy about a Beverly Hills wido and soccer mom running a drug cartel, which sounds suspiciously similar to Weeds and Catherine Zeta-Jones' role in Traffic.
To add to the Latin flavor, CBS is planning a CIA drama with Freddy Rodriguez called Chaos, THR adds. We smell a crossover!
