Man shoots TV over Bristol Palin performance on 'Dancing With the Stars'; Plus: Bristol's safe-sex ad with The Situation
The backlash against Brandy getting booted off Dancing With the Stars in favor of grizzly cub and single teen mom Bristol Palin began almost immediately Tuesday night, with one Wisconsin viewer becoming so enraged at Palin's dancing he blasted his TV with a shotgun. And here we thought gun owners were in the pro-Palin camp.
Steven Cowan, 67, of the town of Vermont, had been drinking before sitting down for DWTS, the AP says, although it was unknown if he was drunk at the time. Too bad he suffers from bipolar disorder and flew into a sputtering, swear-filled rage, shooting the set and pointing the gun at his wife Janice and telling her to go get his pistols, which his daughter had taken away from him because of his mental problems. The shotgun was okay, apparently.
Cowan, who has no criminal record, was talked out of the house when Janice went to the cops and brought back a whole SWAT team. He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, with a possible sentence of 10 years in prison. Could Steven have been set off by Bristol's continued ascension despite a marked lack of talent? Or was he upset that she's starring in a safe sex commercial with hound dog Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino (watch that soul-crushingly awful gem above)? Either way, that's why The Juice* has buried our arsenal in the back yard of stately Juice* Manor. It's like freezing your credit card in ice -- you have to at least think about it a bit.
